ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING OF THE HENRY ANTES HOUSE

TO BE SOLD BY SEALED BID on AUGUST 8, 2009

~ Painted by Local Artist Gary Phillips ~

The oil painting shown above was painted by renowned local artist Gary Phillips at the 42nd Annual Goschenhoppen Folk Festival in 2008. The bucolic summer scene of the Henry Antes House, as viewed from the 19th century barnyard, includes a glimpse of the barnyard wall as well as the garden behind the house.

The picture is offered for sale by sealed bid which may either arrive by U.S. mail prior to August 5, 2009, to the office of the Goschenhoppen Historians, or may be left at the Goschenhoppen Historians Bookseller stand at the 2009 Goschenhoppen Folk Festival before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2009.

The winning bid will be announced at 5:00 p.m. on August 8, 2009, from the stage. In the event of a tie high bid, those bidders will be given the opportunity to place a final bid to determine who will own the painting. The winner will be responsible for receiving the painting or any shipping and insurance costs associated with it. The amount of your bid is what you agree to pay for the painting.

The painting will be on display at the Goschenhoppen Historians Bookseller stand during Folk Festival hours. For more details about the Folk Festival, visit www.goschenhoppen.org . The picture size is 8” x 19”, and the frame is 11 ˝” x 22 ˝”. The Sully style frame is reminiscent of the early 1800’s and was custom made from wormy chestnut with a natural finish. The painting has been appraised at over $800.00.
